I was reluctant to make a post this past December, mainly due to the fact that…
the holidays have sucked the life-force out of me.
I didnt want to read.
I didnt want to write.
I didnt want to see or talk to people.
I really just wanted to crawl into a dark hole and hibernate ‘til all the holiday-consumer-madness had ended.

Not exaclty possible with the position I hold at Apple.
But…that is why I’m taking on projects like this one.

This bike was rebuilt and given to me by my boyfriend’s friend who used to work at the local bike shop here in Denver. It was a pretty cool looking bike to begin with but I wanted to update some parts and give it a more old-school look. After killing thousands of brain cells from chemical stripper, a lot of elbow grease, and patience I’ve finally stripped my bike down.

Parts I have ordered:
::: Soma Major Taylor handlebars (shown)
::: Paul’s components e-lever brake (so sweet)
::: Soma pedals
::: Brooks honey leather saddle seat (shown)
::: Brooks honey leather bar tape

Parts I need to order:
::: bottom bracket
::: custom wheel-set
::: road calipers

I’m not that far away, I still need to apply a gloss primer so it doesn’t start corroding & oxidizing. Hopefully by mid February I will have a rideable bike.
I will keep my fingers crossed that the 5 inches of ice on the sie roads has melted by then.
(doubtful, but I like to remain somewhat optimistic)

I will continue to post updates from time to time.
