Breathe Owl Breathe

Monday September 20, 2010
My brother sent this to me this morning.
The lead singers voice reminds me a little of Belle and Sebastian.
Despite Fall being around the corner, I still do want to go swimming.

Jonathan May

Sunday September 19, 2010
I love this Abandoned Airfield series from Jonathan May.
I'm reminded of my recent trip to Wendover Historic Airfield.
It makes me want to visit Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, a "boneyard" for airplanes.

Don Gibson

Sunday September 19, 2010
Listen: Don Gibson Sea of Heartbreak

Sea of Heartbreak was originally co-written in 1961, by Paul Hampton and Hal David. It was first recorded by Don Gibson, later in 1984 by Leo Sayer and was the opening song in Clint Eastwood's film Heartbreak Ridge.

...

I love Clint Eastwood...
and Paul Newman...
and Robert Redford...
Anyway...

Don Gibson has such a great voice.
In my book, he's right up there with Johnny Cash (who also did a great version of this song).

Jacquelyn Jablonski

Wednesday September 15, 2010
I was going to make a couple posts about Alexa Chung and her line for Madewell, but I noticed in my feeds just about every female who blogs about fashion, has made a post about her line, (most of which is already sold out.)
So instead, I'm posting other inspiration.
Hair-spiration.
This is Jacquelyn Jablonski, an American model from New Jersey, one of the new "it models" for the past couple seasons. In so many ways, it pains me to admit I know this. But I follow fashion intensely and mine as well own up to my vanity.

Her hair. It is amazing.
I look at these pictures and regret getting mine trimmed.
I wish my hair would grow faster. I'll be repeating this for the next four months.

Tennis

Wednesday September 01, 2010
More music I am loving. I am especially inspired by their story.
UPDATE: I found an article in the NYTIMES how they sold all their music equipment and saved for 6 years to go on a sailing trip that ultimately inspired this 7". Their sailing trip had been a dream of Patrick Riley's, the male half of Tennis.
I find this the most heartening part of their music...
One goal. Following a dream. The tenacity. Accomplishing what one sets out to do.
It's fearless. It's adventurous. And as a result... added inspiration for their creativity.

Tennis is Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore, a husband/wife duo. The idea for the project began one day a couple of years ago when Alaina made fun of Patrick for playing Tennis in college, which is an elitist rich man’s sport. A year later the two fled their hometown Denver to spend eight months sailing and exploring the North Atlantic coast. During their adventures they began writing music together documenting their experiences.

I'm in Colorado.
How fortuitous.
